Apple Crisp Pizza

If you love apple crisp pizza, this is the dessert for you. The apples are baked into the crust and then topped with a creamy cinnamon-sugar sauce along with caramelized onions. This tastes very similar to the popular dish but is much easier to make at home. You can’t go wrong with adding some apples baked into the crust of a pizza! You can also make this recipe using strawberries or raspberries, whatever the season.

Apple Crisp Pizza

I love apple season, but I love caramel more and this apple crisp pizza blends the two perfectly!

The blog remodel is so close to being complete! I have had such a great time working with Kristy and cannot wait to show everyone the finished result. We have worked hard and created something that fits The Cookie Writer perfectly. To think I really started taking blogging seriously in 2014 and now look where I am! Let’s see how it goes for years to come!

Between the remodel, back to school (kiddo starts tomorrow!!) and house upgrades, I found myself slacking on desserts. We don’t necessarily need them but I love having a slice here and there. Plus, Mr. TCW said I was neglecting his coworkers… I was not! swear! just haven’t had time. Thankfully I live on a street with wonderful neighbors and received a ton of free apples. In order to use them up (and quick!) I made an apple crisp pizza. Let me say, best decision ever!

All the goodness of apple crisp in pizza form. Plus, the crust is actually pie crust, not pizza dough, so I feel it is even more dessert-like. Top it off with homemade caramel sauce (my weakness!) and you have the ultimate autumn dessert. I am seriously happy I only kept one slice because I could have eaten the whole thing!

Now, I like going all-out, so this apple crisp pizza was completely homemade. But if you are not up to the task, and I don’t judge, the dessert can easily be made with store-bought ingredients. It would definitely be easier and faster. Surprisingly, it was not too sweet and I find it all depends on the apples you use (mine were somewhat tart so that helped.) Adjust the sugar accordingly because some people like sweets and some do not.

Apple Crisp Pizza

Yield: 1

Prep Time: 20 minutes

Cook Time: 40 minutes

Total Time: 1 hour

I love apple season, but I love caramel more and this apple crisp pizza blends the two perfectly!

  • 1 homemade pie crust recipe or store-bought dough (we are rolling it out to resemble a pizza crust.)
  • ½ cup caramel sauce (homemade or store-bought.)
  • Apple topping:
  • 1 lb apples, peeled and sliced into ½-inch portions (about 4 apples.)
  • ⅛ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • Crisp topping:
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ cup + 2 tbsp. butter, room temperature
  • 2 tbsp. caramel sauce

  1. *Store-bought ingredients will definitely make this dessert quicker and easier, but check out my recipes below for homemade caramel and pie dough!
  2. Preheat the oven to 350F.
  3. Toss apples with brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Take the pie crust and roll it out until it fits nicely onto your pizza pan (I believe my pan is 14 inches but you can make it thin or thick crust.) Fold the edges back a bit to form a crust. Pour apples onto the crust and spread them evenly into a single layer.
  4. Combine the flour, sugar, oats, cinnamon, caramel sauce, and ¼ cup of butter with a fork or pastry blender. If the mixture is too dry, add butter 1 tbsp. at a time (I kept mine a bit dry so the topping did not melt everywhere!) Sprinkle over apples and spread out nicely.
  5. Top with ¼-1/2 cup caramel sauce and place into the oven. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the crust is nice and golden.
  6. Allow cooling slightly before cutting! Serve warm or cool.

Easy Apple Dessert Pizza (Like Apple Crisp!)

Holy moly, this easy apple dessert pizza is one of those desserts that just stops people in their tracks. Part apple crisp, part pizza this dessert is full of cinnamon and sweet apples with a buttery crumble topping. It’s all the fun of pizza with gooey, buttery fall apple flavor mixed into one!

Does your family have a pizza night? We have pizza on many Friday nights to end the week. I decided to change things up for fall and make an apple crisp-style pizza to go with our normal Friday routine.

It’s a baking sheet-friendly apple crisp! I used to sometimes eat a dessert like this at Pizza Hut when I was a kid. I’m not sure if they still even have it, it’s been so long since I’ve been to Pizza Hut. But this dessert may just pull up a little nostalgia for all of my fellow Book-it kids. (But this version is so much better than I remember!)

This sweet cinnamon apple dessert really knocked the socks off Friday with tender, warm apples, and lots of sweet cinnamon and sugar. The family loved it, and it’s great for any small group.

It’s also a great dessert to have kids help you make, or to make after a trip to the apple orchard.

I used my favorite dough for this pizza. It’s a two-ingredient yogurt dough with no rising or proofing required. This pizza dough comes together fast and means you’ll have dough on the pizza pan faster than you could order out.

If you already have a favorite pizza dough or a store-bought pizza dough, either of those can be swapped in this recipe too. You can try my more traditional homemade pizza dough recipe, just make sure to leave out the Italian herbs in the recipe.

I had a friend who tested this recipe for me. I asked her how the recipe went and her response was “don’t mind me, just enjoying a little slice of heaven over here. ” Here was her photo she sent me, yum!

Apples come in all different varieties. Some are great for baking, some are best for eating fresh, and some are good for both! Here are a few apples that are great for baking, and would be delicious in this pizza.

  • Jonagold
  • Honeycrisp
  • Braeburn
  • Mutsu (also known as Crispin sometimes)
  • Winesap
  • Pink Lady
  • Cortland
  • Empire
  • Fuji
  • Golden Delicious
  • Granny Smith

This apple pizza is a delicious dessert all on its own. If you like things crunchy, some chopped pecans would be delicious sprinkled on top. I’d chop them up and mix them into the crumble.

This dessert is best served warm and gooey. After the apple dessert is baked you can top it with a drizzle of caramel. Whipped cream or even a small scoop of ice cream would be totally delicious. A sprinkle of powdered sugar through a fine-meshed sieve would also be really pretty!

For a crowd, try cutting this dessert pizza into smaller squares instead of pizza slices.
