How To Make Apple Cobbler

Prepare the apples.

  • One tablespoon of butter should be used to generously grease a 9″x13″ baking dish.
  • Apples should be peeled, cored, and chopped into 1/2″-sized pieces.
  • To stop the apple pieces from browning while I peel and chop, I like to add them to a large bowl that has been filled with water and half a lemon’s juice. However, this step is completely optional.
  • If using the method described above, place the apples in a large bowl, add fresh lemon juice, and toss to combine.
  • Toss to evenly coat the remaining ingredients (both sugars, corn starch, and spices).
  • Place apples in the baking dish that has been prepared.

Prepare the cobbler topping.

  • Turn on the 375°F oven. Add the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt to a big basin. Stir, then put aside.
  • Melt the butter in a second big bowl using a microwave.
  • Whip together the melted butter after adding the milk, egg, and vanilla.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients basin, stirring gently just long enough to mix everything. Avoid overmixing.
  • Spread the batter as needed, although it doesn’t have to be flawless, on top of the apple-filled baking dish.
  • Add the cinnamon sugar mixture to the batter’s top.
  • Bake for 35 to 45 minutes in a preheated oven.
  • The filling should bubble and the top should be golden brown.
  • Before serving, remove from oven and let cool for at least 15 (or more) minutes.
  • The cobbler can also be prepared the day before.

Prepare the caramel sauce.

  • Make the caramel sauce and bake the cobbler simultaneously. The heavy cream should first be warmed in the microwave (in a glass measuring cup or dish), after which it should be placed aside.
  • Add the sugar, corn syrup, and water to a big pot.
  • Gently stir the ingredients together.
  • Gently whisk the mixture while cooking over medium-high heat until the sugar melts and it begins to bubble.
  • Stop stirring and let the mixture simmer silently until the color starts to darken. The mixture should turn a shade of honey, but not any darker. It’s crucial to keep a close eye on the syrup since it will quickly transition from a light to a dark hue. As soon as the syrup turns a light to medium honey color, remove the pan from the heat.
  • Once the heat source has been turned off, slowly and carefully add the warm heavy cream (the mixture will hiss and bubble). Sir, stir the cream thoroughly.
  • Stir in the salt and butter after adding them.
  • Including vanilla extract Pour sauce into a jar after allowing it to cool somewhat.
  • For a delicious treat, serve the apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream and generous drizzles of caramel sauce!

Left over caramel sauce can be stored in a jar in the refrigerator for up to a month. Warm the sauce in the microwave before use.

Health Benefits Of Caramel

Good source of antioxidants

The greatest health advantage of caramel is its antioxidant properties on your body.

Essential nutrients called antioxidants stop the body from creating free radicals. Free radicals are harmful substances that can harm cells and result in aging, cancer, and other diseases.

The study found that caramel has a significant amount of antioxidants. Daily ingestion of caramel is almost as antioxidant-rich as a glass of orange juice.

The study also came to the conclusion that the amount of antioxidants was correlated with the color of the caramel, meaning that the more antioxidants a caramel has, the richer or darker its color (or the degree of caramelization) is.

high levels of sodium

Sodium, a key element of our cells and necessary for the electrolyte balance of the human body, is found in abundance in caramel. Among other things, it is necessary to control blood sugar levels, nerve function, and blood pressure.

343 mg of sodium, or 14 to 15% of the daily recommended sodium intake, can be found in a 100g portion of caramel sauce.

It’s vital to remember that the body can become damaged by consuming too much sodium. Dietary recommendations state that you shouldn’t consume more than 2300 mg of sodium each day.

Gluten-free

Caramel slices

Being gluten-free has gained popularity in recent years when it comes to leading a healthy lifestyle, and for good reason.

Caramel is gluten-free because it is made from a combination of sugar, water, vanilla, milk, and salt. As a result, those who have celiac disease can appreciate the flavor of caramel without being concerned about their sensitivity to gluten.

high in carbohydrates

There’s no need to fully shun high-carb foods, even though low-carb diets may be harmful for some people.

The body needs carbohydrates to function correctly. In actuality, they provide the majority of the body’s energy needs.

About 77 grams of carbs are present in a 100 gram serving of caramel. This indicates that more than 70% of caramel is composed of carbs.

benefits for your skin

Many meals are flavored with caramel, and it is frequently used as a coloring agent in some skin care products. Although caramel has a brownish hue, it’s not the color that gives it its skin-care properties. The melanoidins in caramel, which are present in small amounts, are responsible for the skin-care advantages.

The brownish hue of caramel is a result of melanoidins, which are created during the Maillard reaction, a chemical process that also creates other compounds. Melanodin helps the cell fend against the consequences of aging thanks to its antibacterial and antioxidant characteristics.

Is using caramel a problem in any way?

Anyone who chooses to appreciate it can enjoy caramel, a simple pleasure with a rich and sweet flavor. People who have a passion for caramel frequently test things that include caramel.

But if you consume too much of it, your body can suffer.

high sugar content

Sugar, which caramel is made of, is unhealthy for your body if you consume it in excess. Increased triglyceride levels and a higher risk of heart disease can result from consuming too much sugar.

It might result in weight gain.

Sugar makes caramel heavy in calories, with a serving size of 100 grams containing about 382 calories.

Consuming too much caramel may cause your blood sugar to rise and then fall. Cravings and a vicious cycle of highs and lows are brought on by low blood sugar. This ongoing blood sugar fluctuation can result in insulin resistance, which increases the risk of diabetes and other weight-related problems.

harmful to teeth

Each 100 gram dish of caramel has 66 grams of sugar, or 7 to 8 teaspoons, in it. You will get tooth decay if you eat this much caramel in one day. It can also cause major gum damage, which could result in tooth loss.

Last words

As long as you consume it in moderation, caramel is a tasty pleasure that you can enjoy without worrying about the effects it will have on your health. To enhance the flavor of your cuisine, you can add it.

I hope you found this blog post on caramel’s health advantages to be interesting.
