Step 1

Place the oven rack in the middle and heat it to 400 degrees. To catch spillage, place a rimmed baking sheet in the bottom of the oven.   • 7 tablespoons chilled unsalted butter cut into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
