Hey, everyone. This is the Chicken With Ranch Packet and today I’m going to let you in on a little Ranch packet trick that will make your chicken even more tasty.
I have to admit, by the end of this packet I was really quite pickled. But don’t let that put you off, because it’s surprisingly tasty! This recipe is great because it can be cooked in under 30 minutes, and it has a little kick to it. Also, the name makes me giggle.
Baked Ranch Chicken
The easiest five ingredient baked ranch chicken made with ranch dressing and seasoning mix that is going to become your favorite dinner option.
There are always days when you want to make an easy chicken recipe, and that’s when this baked ranch chicken comes into the picture. It’s really the best, and everybody loves it, especially on busy weeknights after work and school.
Ingredients for Ranch Chicken
This baked ranch chicken is literally five ingredients – chicken, butter, ranch dressing mix, garlic and cheese. That’s it. I like to use a Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning packet for this recipe. Either the dressing packet or the dip packet will work.
What is in a packet of dry ranch seasoning?
Often times we receive questions from readers wondering what ingredients are in a packet of dry ranch seasoning because they don’t have a ranch packet on hand but would still like to make this ranch chicken. It really depends on the brand, but the most popular, Hidden Valley, contains vegetable oil, water, egg yolk, sugar, salt, dried garlic, dried onion, and few other ingredients. If you don’t have a ranch packet on hand, you could substitute with the following: 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon black pepper, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1 teaspoon dried green onion, 1/1 teaspoon dried dill, 1/2 teaspoon salt.
What can I serve with Baked Ranch Chicken?
This entire recipe uses ingredients we usually have in our pantry. The baking takes about 25 minutes so you have a delicious dinner in under 30 minutes. Steam some broccoli on the side, make a nice salad or better yet, try our Slow Cooker Cheddar Bacon Ranch Potatoes and you’ve got a simple, quick dinner for the family.
If you’d like to make it a one pan dinner, add some carrots, broccoli or cauliflower to the pan and bake everything off in one which makes this dinner even better and makes for easy clean up.
We’ve used butter for this recipe, because we love butter, but if you like, feel free to go ahead and swap it with olive oil. And you can easily skip the garlic, but I wouldn’t recommend it. That garlic really makes everything more magical in this baked ranch chicken. You don’t need flour or crackers for a crispy crust – just a nice mix of finely grated parmesan and cheddar which bubbles up in the oven and becomes beautifully crispy. This ranch chicken is made without breadcrumbs but is still super crispy and yummy.
Ranch Chicken is juicy, tender chicken breasts covered in a crispy golden coating of cornflakes, Parmesan cheese, and zesty ranch flavoring. With only 5 simple ingredients, and a quick prep, you can have a flavor-filled dinner in hardly any time!
I’ve always loved the ease and simplicity that comes along with certain recipes. Sometimes I just don’t have the energy to slave over the stove all day on some elaborate dish. I just want an easy yet palate-pleasing dinner that everyone will enjoy, which is where this Ranch Chicken comes to the rescue!
Ranch Chicken consists of all the things you yearn for in a meal: stress free, simple, no mile long instructions, and most importantly, delicious!
It reminds me of that saying, ‘less is more’. The recipe requires less work, less ingredients, but results in more flavor and satisfaction!
The chicken breasts are first coated in melted butter (to allow the crumb coating to stick) and then placed in a bag filled with the yummy coating mixture! This creates a crunchy, flaky outside that compliments the moist and tender inside. YUM! Then the chicken is then baked to golden perfection!
While this Ranch Chicken is tasty on its own, to really bring the whole dish together, you could serve it with a fresh side salad and some corn on the cob!
No matter if you choose to eat this on its own, or with a few tasty sides, just know you’ll be in for one truly satisfying meal.

Chicken Breasts With Potatoes And Carrots, Tossed In Ranch Seasoning And Baked To Perfection. This Delicious Dish Is SO Simple, Quick, Tasty, And Allows You To Cook Your Meat And Sides In One Shot!
This recipe was inspired by our Baked Parmesan Potatoes recipe that uses parmesan and ranch for seasoning. I love this ranch chicken recipe though, because you cook a main dish and your sides all on one sheet pan! It’s the best!
BETTER THAN IMAGINED
It makes me happy when I find a recipe that tastes even better than I could have imagined. This Ranch Chicken recipe was just that!! It was easy to make and has all the fixin’s to be a family favorite.
With flavorful chicken and tasty veggies to go with it, this dish would be great for dinner ANY time of the year, but especially for family gatherings.
I had seen several recipes using Hidden Valley® Ranch Dip and knew that an easy Ranch Chicken would be perfect for this occasion. We ended up adding red potatoes and carrots as the veggies for this recipe, but you can change that up based on your favorite vegetables (broccoli, asparagus and cauliflower would all work great as well).
HOW TO MAKE RANCH CHICKEN – IT’S SO EASY!
I can’t even tell you how EASY this recipe is. Seriously so simple to make, and you get chicken and veggies done in one pan. Less than 10 minutes of prep, and then you just pop it in the oven.
VEGGIES. We started the recipe by chopping up our potatoes and adding them and the carrots to a gallon bag. From there, we added some olive oil, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper and Hidden Valley Ranch Dip Mix. We shook all of it up in the bag and added it to a greased baking sheet.
CHICKEN. We did the exact same thing with the chicken and placed it on the same sheet.
BAKE. We baked this for 35-40 minutes (broiling it for an additional few minutes to get crispy veggies), and had a new delicious recipe loved by the whole family.
What do you do if the veggies or the chicken is done before the other? If the veggies are done before the chicken simply take them off the baking sheet and keep them warm in a covered container. If the chicken is done before the veggies you can do the same thing.
RECIPE TIPS AND SUGGESTIONS
How should this be stored? This should be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge. You can either separate the chicken from the veggies when storing them or keep them together.
Can this be made ahead of time? The prep is already super quick, but if you still want to make it ahead of time, you could season the chicken and veggies, and keep them in the ziploc bags until you’re ready to put them on the baking sheet and cook later on!
Can you make this recipe with liquid ranch instead of the dry mix? If you’re not using the dry mix, you will probably need more of the liquid ranch to get the same flavor. It would act as more of a marinade, and might cook a little differently, so watch it closely in the oven. Consider also adding more parmesan to make up for the weaker flavor.
BEST SERVED WARM
This dish is served best warm, so we used some Glad® Press’n Seal to keep this dish warm until ready to serve. Not only is the Press ‘n Seal handy for keeping food fresh and warm, but you can use it to:
- Cover a surface with product to protect counter when working with raw meat
- Cover children’s table with product for easy clean up
GENIUS, right? I even used it to cover my tablet when I was making this recipe to create an instant, splash-proof recipe screen! The Press n’ Seal really had so many uses and sure comes in handy when cooking and baking for the holidays.
