This Crockpot Apple Crisp With Spice Cake Mix recipe is made with delicious apples mixed with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice flavor. It’s cooked in the crockpot making it even easier than ever to make. Apple crisp is one of my favorite autumn desserts. And, you can make it in the slow cooker and take out a lot of the guesswork. The end result is delicious, with gooey-caramelized apple goodness and just the right amount of spice cake mix.

3 INGREDIENT SLOW COOKER APPLE SPICE CAKE

This 3 Ingredient Slow Cooker Apple Spice Cake is a delicious dessert crockpot recipe for Fall!  My whole family loved this easy treat. I was able to scoop it right out of the slow cooker into bowls and serve it after dinner.

The kids thought it tasted just like fried apples, but better.  They were really impressed.  That is why I love to use my slow cooker because everyone thinks I spent hours cooking when really I didn’t.  I just let the crockpot do the work!

Lightly spray your slow cooker with non stick cooking spray.  Pour the apple pie filling into the bottom of your crockpot. Next sprinkle the cake mix all over the top of the apple filling.

Place butter on top.  Put the lid on and cook for 2 ½ hours on high. Scoop and serve warm.  You can also use a gluten free cake mix to make this into a gluten free recipe!  If you can find a spice cake mix you can sub with a yellow cake mix and additional spices (cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves).

I served the Apple Spice Cake with Whipped Cream, but next time I will serve it with some vanilla ice cream too. Be sure to try this scrumptious dessert soon, you will not be disappointed!  This would make a great dessert for Thanksgiving or any holiday.

Super easy Crock Pot Apple Dump Cake with Spice Cake Mix Recipe! This recipe uses pie filling, cake mix, and a few other ingredients to make a delicious fall dessert slow cooker recipe!

This recipe is so dang easy! I love that you can pop it in the crockpot last minute if you find out people are coming over to visit. Your house smells delicious and you have an amazing dessert to serve that was crazy easy to make.

I mean really the hardest part of this recipe is finding the dang can opener to open the cans of pie filling.

Our can opener always seems to hide when I need it….or I have too many kitchen tools…I am going to stick with the hiding can opener otherwise, I might have to part with a kitchen tool.

Ingredients needed

  • Apple Pie Filling
  • Spice cake mix
  • Butter

Cooking spray for the crockpot

We love serving this warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. I have heard of people sprinkling a bit of brown sugar over it to give it even more flavor.

You can top this cake with chopped pecans or walnuts if you want a bit of crunch on the top.

Equipment Needed

Slow Cooker – You will want to make sure the slow cooker is big enough for the apple pie filling to spread out and the cake mix to go over it. I would not use a small warming crockpot since you will end up with super thick filling and cake mix. Unless you like a denser cake.

HOW TO MAKE AN APPLE SPICE DUMP CAKE IN THE OVEN

If your crockpots are in use you can make this recipe in the oven.

You will need a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish.

Make sure to grease the bottom of the casserole dish before pouring in the apple pie filling.

Top with dry cake mix and melted butter.

Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. I would check the cake at 30 minutes and see how it looks. It really depends on your oven.

Because can sizes vary we have listed the apple pie filling as 29 ounces. That being said, the average can of pie filling is about 14 – 15 ounces so you will want to use 2 cans of apple pie filling as long as the total pie filling falls close to the 29 ounce range.

Can I Use Pecans Instead Of Walnuts In This Spiced Apple Dump Cake Recipe?

Absolutely! If walnuts are not your thing or you have pecans instead of walnuts in your pantry feel free to swap them out! I think apples and pecans are a great combination!

I Am Allergic To Nuts, It’s Okay To Omit The Nuts In This Recipe Right?

Nut allergies are a serious thing and this recipe will totally work just fine if you leave out the nuts. That is why they are listed as optional in the recipe box. That being said, if you have a nut allergy it is important to read the labels carefully of all ingredients used in this recipe such as the boxed cake mix, oats and even the canned apple pie filling to make sure there are no hidden nuts or the products are not processed in a facility that also handles nuts.
