One of those ridiculously simple “forget and go” 5-ingredient crockpot meals is this recipe! It’s as simple as throwing everything into the crockpot. Then, a few hours later, dinner is ready. So simple and quick! We enjoy topping it with fresh parsley and serving it with cooked rice or noodles.

  • Cream of chicken soup: The cream of chicken soup helps to give this recipe it’s creamy consistency. I like to use a can from the store for convenience, but you can always make your own too.
  • Cream cheese: You’ll just need 1 block of cream cheese. I like to cube mine up before adding it to the crockpot. This helps it melt evenly and not get lumpy.
  • Italian dressing mix: Make sure to get the dry Italian dressing mix packet! I like to use Good Seasons Italian dressing mix.
  • Chicken breasts: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts work best for this recipe. I used 4 chicken breasts, which is about 1 1/2 pounds.

How to make crockpot Italian chicken

  1. Put the ingredients in the slow cooker. Place the chicken in the slow cooker and top with Italian seasoning. Cream of chicken soup and cream cheese cubes should then be added.
  2. cook slowly. Cook for 5 to 6 hours on low or 3 to 4 hours on high.
  3. Season chicken as desired after shredding. S&P to taste and shred chicken. To thin it out, if necessary, add 1/4–1/2 cup of milk or chicken broth.

Three guys are using power tools in the kitchen while the stove is outside in the garage. I have two crockpots: one on the little chest in the dining room, and the other on a TV tray in the front hallway next to the dining room. Boxes loaded with cabinet contents fill the dining room. Our meal was cooked in a single crockpot today. I added the Italian dressing because I couldn’t reach my seasonings to enhance the ranch flavors. It produced a delicious and savory chicken and gravy dish that was served over brown rice, and I would prepare it the same way again.

  • 3 pounds chicken
  • 1 package Italian Salad Dressing Mix (2/3 ounce)
  • 1 package Ranch Dressing Mix
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • additional 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 clove garlic, chopped
  • 1 can cream of chicken soup (10 ½ ounces)
  • 8 ounces cream cheese


  1. Put the chicken in the slow cooker and cover it with melted butter.
  2. Dress the chicken with Italian and ranch dressing, making sure to get in between the pieces.
  3. Over the chicken and dressing mixture, drizzle water evenly.
  4. Cook for 4-6 hours on low.
  5. 2 tablespoons of butter are used to sauté the onion and garlic.
  6. Stir until smooth after adding the cream cheese and cream of chicken soup.
  7. Cook on low for an extra hour after pouring over the chicken.
