Easy Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler with Sprite
Rock Hill is now in the midst of camping season, which means there is a demand for some top-notch camp meals. Managing supplies is one of the biggest challenges for any camp cook. Good cuisine is desired by all, but bringing a fully equipped kitchen to a campsite is simply not practical. Because of this, a lot of shrewd camp cooks have mastered the use of camp shortcuts. Use of Coca-Cola goods when putting together a dish is one of the best short cuts we are aware of.
A tasty, crowd-pleasing cobbler may be made by simply mixing some cake mix and canned fruit with a can of Sprite. For all the instructions on how to make your own Easy Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler, see the recipe below.
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 3 15 oz. cans of sliced peaches
- 12 oz. can of Sprite
What You Will Need
- Heavy duty aluminum foil
- A mixing spoon
- A dutch oven
- Hot coals
How to Make a Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
Start Your Charcoal Early
Before you’re ready to prepare the cobbler, start the charcoal. Make the cobbler and begin when the coals are almost ready.
Employ a liner
Cleaning up after meals is the hardest task in camp. Your cleaning time will be significantly reduced if you line your dutch oven. The interior of the dutch oven should be lined with a large piece of heavy aluminum foil. Carefully push the foil into the bottom corners and all the way around the edges. Be careful not to rip or pierce the foil.
Drain
The peaches’ juice should be removed. The cobbler will become very liquid and sugary if there is too much canned juice added. All the sliced peaches are what you desire.
Combined Dry and Wet
The simplicity with which everything comes together in this recipe is one of its best features. Here, a mixing bowl is not necessary. Put all the components together right in the prepared Dutch oven.
Add the Sprite after mixing the cake mix first. Gently yet thoroughly combine. Small lumps are possible, but overall you want to incorporate all of the dry mix.
Place Fruit
Any canned fruit that has been drained will work, but peaches always seem to be a crowd pleaser. Mix the cake mix and Sprite again before adding the drained fruit.
Cook the Cobbler
Place the right number of coals above and below the Dutch oven, then cover it with the lid. If you’re using a 12″ dutch oven, use 18 for the top and 9 for the bottom to get a temperature of 350o F.
30 minutes is the approximate baking time. Before serving, take the Dutch oven out of the fire and let it rest for about 10 minutes.

DUTCH OVEN PEACH COBBLER – SIMPLE RECIPE
Dutch oven peach cobbler is incredibly simple to make and makes an excellent dessert that is ideal for Sunday dinners, family reunions, scout camps, girls camps, and camping trips with your family.
Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler – Simple Recipe
I’ve tried so many different methods to make a fantastic dutch oven peach cobbler. This is a simple recipe.
I prepare this dish in a 12″ Dutch oven. A 10′′ dutch oven can also be used, however the proportion of peaches to cake mix topping will be different.

Cook Time:30 minutes
Charcoal Preparation:30 minutes

Course: Dessert
Keyword: Cobbler, Dutch, Dutch Oven, Oven, Peach
Servings: 10 People
Calories: 345kcal
Ingredients
- 3 15 oz cans Peaches Home canned peaches are even better than store bought!
- 1/3 Stick Butter
- 1 Box Vanilla cake mix
- 2 Tbsp Cinnamon
- 1 cup Brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp Vegetable Oil
- 1 12 oz can Sprite
Instructions
- Apply cooking oil sparingly inside the 12″ dutch oven (or shortening). To make cleaning the bottom of the Dutch oven easier, some people cover it with tinfoil.
- Pour the peaches into the Dutch oven after draining the liquid from the three cans of peaches.
- Place the dry vanilla cake mix from the box on top of the peaches.
- Add a few thin pieces of butter, spread out equally, to the dry cake batter.
- In the Dutch oven’s contents, evenly sprinkle the brown sugar.
- Sprinkle a little cinnamon on top of the dry cake mix.
- On top of the cake mix and brown sugar, pour 2/3 of the can of Sprit (or 7-Up). The remaining can can be consumed or given to a child.
Preparing the fire for cooking
- Use charcoal lighter fluid and a match or lighter to ignite 30 to 35 charcoal briquettes. Before utilizing, let the briquettes’ edges get white.
- Place 18–20 briquettes on top of the dutch oven and 8–10 on the ground or on a table made for dutch ovens. In the dutch oven, this will produce a cooking environment similar to an oven.
- Check to see if the peach cobbler is done after about 30 minutes of cooking. If you can insert a fork into the cake batter and it comes out clean, it is finished. Every five minutes, recheck to see if it’s finished.
- The dutch oven’s lid can be removed using a lid lifter.
- Take care to avoid getting burned by the steam in the dutch oven as you open the lid.
- When you check to see if the cake is done, take cautious not to spill any of the ashes from the top of the oven. Nothing is worse than trying to remove ashes from a piping hot peach cobbler.
- Serve it with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. It will be searing hot, so be careful!
Notes
This is a fantastic meal to prepare at family reunions, scout camps, girls camps, or while family camping in the woods.
Everything tastes better when you’re in the mountains, for some reason.
For Sunday dinner, though, I baked this, and it was just as excellent there. Simply cook in the oven at 325 degrees while following the same instructions rather than using charcoal briquettes.
