- 1 cup butter (2 sticks)
- 1 cup smooth peanut butter (not natural)
- 1 pound powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Grease an 8X8 inch pan with butter, and then line with parchment paper (this will make the removal of the fudge much easier).
- In a large glass bowl, combine the butter and peanut butter and cover with a paper towel. Microwave for about 2 minutes on high.
- Stir and microwave for 1-2 more minutes depending on the wattage of your microwave. Carefully remove it from the microwave because it will be very hot!
- Add the powdered sugar (and vanilla if you’re using it) to the melted peanut butter mixture, and stir with a wooden spoon or spatula until it’s well combined.
- Use a spatula to spread the mixture into your lined pan, and allow it to cool on the counter for about 10 minutes. Cover with plastic wrap, foil or a lid, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

All you need to make peanut butter fudge are three basic ingredients. Peanut butter, butter and confectioner’s sugar. Adding vanilla extract is optional.
Make sure you use creamy peanut butter available in stores. If you like crunchy bites then crunchy peanut butter can be used. Homemade, natural peanut butter will not give you the best fudge bars like the one you see in the picture. So better avoid using it.
Melt butter and peanut butter in pan or in a microwave-safe bowl until smooth and melted completely. To this add vanilla extract, sifted confectioners sugar and mix till combined.
Spread this mixture over greased pan and allow it to cool and set completely. Cut them into desired shapes and size.
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE HOMEMADE FUDGE?

- In a microwaveable bowl, mix peanut butter and butter. Cook the mixture in the microwave for one minute. Then, stir the mixture and microwave for another minute.
- Stir until fully incorporated. Add powdered sugar and mix until smooth. You’ll know it’s done when you see a thick, paste-like batter.
- Place the batter into a baking pan lined with parchment paper. Place a sheet of parchment paper on top of the fudge and start pressing with your palms to spread evenly across the pan.

Once your family takes a bite of this peanut butter fudge, it’s unlikely there will be any leftovers. In fact, I recommend making extra to enjoy later.
There’s no need to refrigerate, unless you like your fudge cold. Store your fudge in an air-tight container and it will stay fresh for 3 to 5 days.
If you refrigerate your fudge, it will last for up to a month and up to 1 year in the freezer.
How Long Does Fudge Last?
The shelf-life of fudge depends on how you store it. At room temperature, fudge will last for two weeks. If you refrigerate it, it’s good for a month. If you freeze it, it can survive for an entire year!
Just don’t place it inside the freezer door. Store your fudge at the back to shield it from shifts in temperature whenever someone opens the freezer.
But, before eating stored fudge, it’s also wise to check for signs of spoilage. When you start to see cracks on your fudge, that means it’s been exposed to too much air. This makes your fudge dry and less tasty.
Likewise, when your fudge becomes way too soft and mushy, it means it’s time to let it go. Also, if the fudge has become tough and has an oily surface, it’s also past its prime.
How To Store Microwave Peanut Butter Fudge
There are 3 main ways to store fudge: at room temperature, in the fridge, or in the freezer. Here are some quick guidelines to follow depending on the method you choose.
- If you’re storing fudge at room temperature, there is no need to wrap it in plastic wrap or foil. Rather, place it in a plastic container or a self-sealing bag.
- It’s best to store fudge in a cool, dark area in the house. Do not place it on the countertop, or anywhere near a heat source.
- If you’re going to refrigerate fudge, place it in an air-tight container. Cold air will make your fudge dry, so do not expose it to air when storing.
- Do not place the fudge squares too close together, either, as it will cause them to stick to each other.
- If you freeze your fudge, double-wrap (first with wax paper, then with plastic wrap or aluminum foil) the squares individually beforehand. This will make it easy for you to thaw out one slice at a time. Then, place the squares into an air-tight container or a zip lock freezer bag. To thaw, simply place in the fridge or on the counter for a few hours.

- You’re free to choose however big or small you want your squares to be, but keep in mind that it’s better to make small squares (about an inch) if you’re giving them out as gifts. The smaller the size, the more squares you get!
- Use a kitchen ruler to make sure you get uniform-sized squares.
- Before cutting, heat your knife under hot water and dry with a towel.
- If your fudge starts to get too moist, simply take it out of the container and unwrap. Fudge naturally starts to dry when exposed to air. Leave unwrapped for a few hours and it will become much firmer.

- 18 ounces crunchy peanut butter
- 1 pound confectioners’ sugar, sifted
Steps to Make It
- Gather the ingredients.
- Line an 8×8-inch pan with foil. Be sure ends hang slightly over the edges so it will be easy to lift out. Lightly butter the foil. Set aside.
- Fill bottom of a double boiler one-third of the way up with water. Bring the water to a boil. Once the water begins to boil, reduce the heat to low. Place the top pan over the double boiler.
- Add the butter and peanut butter to the double boiler. Stir until completely melted.
- Stir in confectioners’ sugar until the mixture is very smooth with no lumps.
- Quickly scrape the mixture into prepared pan. Use a spatula to smooth the top.
- When completely cool, remove fudge from pan by pulling up on foil handles.
- Place on a work surface, remove and discard the foil, and cut fudge into 16 equal pieces.
- In warm weather months, store the fudge in a sealed container in the refrigerator, otherwise it will melt.
