BANANA BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE
A simple and healthy Banana Blueberry Smoothie is an easy breakfast or snack that the kids go crazy for! Made with fruit, Greek yogurt and milk, the quick and refreshing smoothie is full of good-for-you protein, fiber and nutrients. Perfect way to start the day!

Frozen blueberries are a staple in our kitchen, so this morning blend is a simple treat year-round. That said, once blueberry season rolls around and my kids have picked more berries than we know what to do with, this Banana Blueberry Smoothie seems particularly fitting. Whether you use fresh or frozen blueberries, it’s a perfect way to take advantage of overripe bananas that are inevitably sitting on our counter!
ARE SMOOTHIES GOOD FOR YOU?
If you’re wondering which smoothies are good for weight loss, you’ll have to look at the ingredients. You can fill your glass with nourishing fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals, or you can purchase a store-bought smoothie that’s loaded with sugar, fat and calories.
This healthy smoothie recipe is perfect for almost any diet or nutritional goals because it can be adapted to suit your needs. Add nut butter for healthy fats, use vegan ingredients for a plant-based option, or throw in some spinach for an undetectable veggie boost!

HOW TO MAKE A BANANA BLUEBERRY SMOOTHIE:
This truly could not be easier! You only need a handful of simple ingredients and about 5 minutes. Just don’t forget to freeze your fruit the night before — it’s the key to an icy cold, super-thick shake!
INGREDIENTS:
- Banana
- Blueberries
- Greek yogurt
- Milk
- Salt {maybe a surprise ingredient, but it just balances out the sweetness of the fruit — kind of like adding salt to cakes or cookies}
- Ice cubes
STEP 1: FREEZE THE FRUIT!
One key to the thick, creamy texture of this smoothie is definitely the FROZEN banana and blueberries! Don’t skip that step! It’s a great way to use up overripe bananas, too.
When you have dark bananas on your counter, just peel them, slice them, and wrap them individually. Stick the sliced bananas into the freezer and pull them out as you need them. Similarly, you can freeze fresh blueberries in ½-cup portions, or you can purchase a bag of frozen blueberries at the store.

STEP 2: PLACE ALL OF THE INGREDIENTS IN A BLENDER
Add the banana, blueberries, yogurt, milk, salt and ice cubes to the blender.

STEP 3: PUREE UNTIL SMOOTH
Blend until thick, creamy and smooth!
