How To Make Detox Water For Weight Loss

Have you heard about detox water for weight loss? I certainly had. But, I never really put too much effort into learning about how to make all the different kinds available. That is until, I created my last e-course and needed a new video course to market with it. When I already had a topic in mind, that was relatively easy to create and teach – I knew that was exactly what I was going to do. This decision led me to discover the real difference between detox water for weight loss and detox water in general.

For several years, I helped women live their best life through diet and fitness. It was and is still a passion of mine and I can’t wait to share all that I have learned with YOU!

For many of us, we simply need to drink more water, myself included. The easiest way I have found to drink more water is by simply flavoring it with fruits and veggies. By doing this you are doing two things: 1. flavoring the water 2. getting the nutrients that the fruit and vegetables have to offer.

Achieving a flat belly starts with what you are putting into it. You want to focus on adding anti-inflammatory foods. In this Detox Water Recipe we use cucumbers to prevent water retention and they also have many anti-inflammatory properties. Limes provide the cleansing effect of citric acid to help clear out the digestive system while grapefruit or oranges contain flavonoids in the peel and juice that stimulate the immune system. They also protect the body against a fungi/pests while helping to reduce cholesterol levels.

One of my favorite ingredients to any water recipe is mint as it helps the body digest more easily and it also soothes any stomach cramps you may have.

Detox Water

In short, YES! Detox water is great for losing because to lose weight you need to drink water! Water doesn’t contain any calories, so you can drink all you want! The general idea behind a detox water recipe is to flush your body and rid it of any toxins quicker than plain old water.

Just drinking this detox water recipe isn’t going to allow for a flat belly overnight. There are several factors that come into play and adjusting your routine to not only be drinking half your body weight in ounces of water a day but, other factors help as well. A proper diet that’s filled with anti-inflammatory foods, high fiber to help move your bowels, 20 minutes of exercise a day as well as supplements to help reach your daily goal on nutrients we otherwise aren’t getting.

Things to Keep in Mind While Preparing Detox Water

  • Detox water is always made with water which is at room temperature (not hot or cold)
  • To make detox water, you will need to leave the ingredients in water for at least 2-3 hours before consumption. Therefore, to prevent any reaction, always make and store the water in a glass jar or bottle.
  • Never store the water for more than a day. Prepare fresh water with fresh ingredients every day. The best way is to prepare the detox water in the morning and consume the entire water of the jar/bottle by evening.
  • Store the water only at room temperature and not in the fridge.

Recipe 1: Chia Seeds, Ginger and Lemon

To prepare this, take one tbsp chia seeds and soak them in half glass of water for 20-30 minutes. Mix it well otherwise the chia seeds will form into lumps. Now take a glass jar/bottle in which you want to make the detox drink and add 2-3 slices of lemon and 3-4 pieces of ginger. Remove the seeds from the lemon and properly peel and wash the ginger pieces before adding them to water. Now add the chia seeds mixture that you had prepared and then fill the bottle with water. Stir it well and leave the detox drink for at least 2-3 hours. Your drink is now ready to consume.

This drink is one of my favorite and the most effective detox recipe for weight loss. It is also known to reduce your cholesterol levels.

Recipe 2: Fruit Detox Water

To prepare a fruit detox drink, you can add any fruit you like. It is best to use fruits rich in Vitamin C for best results. Add few slices of orange, kiwi, apple slices, and lemon slices. Add water and keep the drink aside for 2-3 hours. You can also add 8-10 mint leaves to make it more effective. This drink is very refreshing and you can use whichever fruit is available in the market as per your preference.

Recipe 3: Cumin Seeds Detox Drink

This detox drink can be prepared with only one ingredient and is equally effective in improving your digestion and speeding up the weight loss process. Add 2 tablespoons of cumin seeds in one-liter water and mix it well. Keep it aside for 2-3 hours and consume the drink along with the seeds. Cumin seeds increase your body heat so if you already face the problem of excessive body heat, please avoid this detox drink.

Detox Water in Mason Jars

Moving into the New Year, many of us have our own personal objectives to become a better, healthier or happier person. For some, those goals include losing weight or eating better in general. Diet and exercise aside, there is one thing everyone should do to improve their health: drink more water.

Drinking 1 – 2 litres of water a day (more if you are active) can help you lose weight and flush your system of toxins. Drinking cold water burns calories, which increases your resting energy expenditure. Plus, drinking before meals can help decrease your appetite if losing weight is your main goal. Weight aside, water is a natural lubricant that will improve your bowel movements and take toxins with it. Without water, the colon becomes dry, causing constipation (yuck) and toxins stay in your system longer. Your kidneys also need water to function properly and flush waste out through your urine.

Now that the unpleasantries are over, we can get to your New Year resolution and help you get on your way to drinking more water. These 3 detox waters will keep you hydrated, plus offer additional benefits when paired with a healthy diet and lifestyle. We recommend making them in Mason jars so you can enjoy their beauty (you’ll love how colorful they are!), while still having the option to seal them with a lid. Mason jars are easy to store in your fridge and fit comfortably in your hand while on the go.

Lemon Power

Hot or cold, drinking lemon water is a great way to improve your health and lose weight. Lemons are high in vitamin C and other nutrients that support healthy stomach, liver and kidney functions, plus they contain limonin, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits.

How to Make

  • 1 quart-sized Mason jar
  • 1 lemon (1 half sliced, the other squeezed)
  • Filtered water
  • Optional: dash of cayenne pepper, ice, blue berries or raspberries

Make it ahead and leave it in the fridge to cool overnight with a Mason jar lid. Consider leaving 2 inches of headspace so you can add ice the following morning so it stays colder, longer.

Apple Cider Vinegar Water

Apple cider vinegar is good for your body inside and out: seriously, it’s great for your skin. It also improves nutrient absorption, reduces your appetite, and can assist with managing blood sugar levels.

How to Make

  • 1 quart-sized Mason jar
  • 2 – 3 tbsp of apple cider vinegar (start small if this is your first time drinking apple cider vinegar; it’s an acquired taste)
  • 1 lemon (1 half sliced, the other squeezed)
  • Optional: organic sweetener

We recommend starting with a small amount of apple cider vinegar and increase it with every batch you make. Apple cider vinegar has a nice flavor if you’re accustomed to it, but it can be a bit potent, especially if you don’t like vinegar to begin with. Once you’ve mastered the measurements, you can start making these ahead of time and storing them in the fridge with a Mason jar lid. You can write how much vinegar is in them by using Chalk Tops.

Cool as a Cucumber (with a Hint of Mint)

Swanky spa or rushed commute to work? Either way, you’ll feel very zen while drinking this cumber-mint water: your mind and body will thank you. Your brain will rejoice because cucumbers contain fisetin, which improves brain health, including memory and protecting cells from age-related decline. Cucumbers are primarily made of water and fibre, which further helps your digestive health and increases your water consumption. Mint adds a nice flavor, plus it soothes the stomach and assists with digestion.

How to Make

  • 1 quart-sized Mason jar
  • 1/2 cucumber, sliced
  • 4 – 5 fresh mint leaves
  • Filtered water
  • Optional: ice

We recommend making this up to 12 hours before consumption and storing it in your fridge with a Mason jar lid. Again, consider leaving room for ice to keep it cold for longer the following day.
