How To Make Fruits With Paper

60

how to make fruits with paper is a very easy instead of the fresh fruit, you can print, cut the paper color with vegetables and the colors are replaced by fruits. Would you like to learn how to make fruits with paper? The process is not that difficult, and the best part is that you can do it with no prior experience.

How to Make Paper With Fruits

Various fruit can be used to make paper.

There is something special and personal about receiving a note written on a handmade item. With the revival of paper making, the craft has become a form of artistic expression, from the production of paper for a fine print book to the one of a kind piece hanging on an art gallery wall. Using the same technique originally used to make papyrus, you can make handmade paper from fruit or vegetables. Your end result will be something far beyond any stationary you can imagine.

Step 1

Clean your fruit with dish detergent and warm water to remove any dirt or residue. Dry the fruit with a clean towel. Cut your fruit into thin slices using a sharp knife. Make each slice the same size, approximately 1/8 inch thick. If you are using an orange or another fruit with large seeds remove the seeds.

Step 2

Place a piece of tissue paper on a flat microwave safe platter. Overlapping each slice of fruit, arrange the slices on top of the tissue paper. Cover with another piece of tissue paper.

Step 3

Put your platter into the microwave. Apply weight to the fruit using plates or other microwave safe dishes. Using heavier dishes is better because the extra weight will help press the water out of the fruit.

Step 4

Heat the fruit on the highest setting for one minute. Remove the platter from the microwave using pot holders or oven mitts to protect your hands from the heat. Allow the fruit to cool off to the point you can handle it safely. You will notice your tissue paper is wet. Change the tissue paper and repeat this step until the tissue paper is nearly dry.

Step 5

Remove the damp tissue paper and replace it with dry tissue paper. Place the fruit and tissue paper in-between several layers of newspaper and lay it out on a flat surface. Use a table or an area of your floor that is not high traffic, as this will need to set for a few days. Put a large textbook or a few large books on top of the fruit to weigh it down.

Step 6

Change the tissue paper and newspaper once a day to prevent mold from building up. It is best to do this on cool days since heat aids in mold production. If this is not possible, you will have to change the surrounding paper more often. After two to three days your paper will be ready. Some fruit may take longer to dry than others, depending upon the density of the fruit

Tip

You can also use a cotton sheet to dry your paper, change the sheets often so they are not wet. You can also do this with vegetables, cucumbers are an easy way to start.

Warning

Use caution when working with heat and sharp objects. If you do not get the results you expect try again, maybe using a different fruit.

3D PAPER FRUITS FOR SUMMER

We enjoy eating various fruits all year long, but summertime is typically when fruits are at their peak. Hello fresh fruit and farmers’ markets! We were so excited to see all the different varieties of cherries making an appearance this month. And we can’t wait to enjoy some juicy and delicious Colorado peaches in August. So, when it came time to decide on our next summer arts+crafts project, we thought it would be fun to pay tribute to all of our favorite fruits, by making these fun and colorful 3D Paper Fruits for Summer!

We love creating three-dimensional crafts – they are just that much more eye-catching. Last summer, we had a blast making our 3D Ladybug Crafts – Three Ways! So, when I came across these 3D Paper FRUITS (apples and pear) and Strawberry Paper Craft posts, over on Krokotak, I was inspired to create some of our own. Once we got started, we decided to continue the creativity and add a few more fruits that we love.

  • Scissors
  • Markers/Crayons
  • Glue Stick

3D Paper Strawberry

  1. Grab a couple of sheets of red construction paper, one sheet of green construction paper, and a background sheet of paper (in the color of your choosing).
  2. Fold a sheet of red paper in half horizontally. Draw one half of a strawberry along the folded edge of the paper. Using a pair of scissors, cut out the folded strawberry. Repeat this process for the other sheet of red paper, making sure to keep the two strawberry halves the same size.
  3. Using a black marker or crayon, adorn the strawberry with black dots (i.e. seeds).
  4. Cut a strawberry stem out of the green construction paper.
  5. Glue the two folded strawberry halves together (forming one 3D strawberry) on the sheet of background paper. Glue the strawberry stem on top.
  6. You can keep the strawberry displayed on the background paper, or cut it out so that it stands alone (we chose to cut all of our fruits out).

3D Paper Pineapple

  3. Using a darker yellow crayon or marker, adorn the pineapple with a cross-hatch pattern.
  4. Fold a sheet of green construction paper in half. Draw one half of a pineapple stem along the folded edge of the paper. Using a pair of scissors, cut out the folded pineapple stem. Fold the sheet of green paper in half again, and repeat this process, making sure to keep the two pineapple stem halves the same size.
  5. Glue the two folded pineapple stem halves together (forming one 3D pineapple stem) on the sheet of background paper. Glue the two folded pineapple halves together, below the pineapple stem (forming one complete 3D pineapple).
  6. You can keep the pineapple displayed on the background paper, or cut it out so that it stands alone.
