- 1 Fresh Mango (Sliced and Frozen)
- 1 Fresh Pineapple (Cubed and Frozen)
- 1/2 Cup of Sugar
- 1 Cup of Orange Juice
- Chop & Freeze the fruit

Frozen Mangoes & Pineapples: It’s easiest to buy large bags of these at Costco and store them in your freezer to use whenever you want a smoothie. With frozen fruit you won’t have to worry about them going bad.

Pineapple Nectar: Use a pure pineapple juice — generally this is fairly easy to find.
Mango Nectar: Most of the time mango is sold as a juice mixed with other fruit. Try to find pure mango nectar, which will give the most authentic mango flavor.
Ice: A bit of ice gives this smoothie a true frozen slushy consistency and somehow makes it taste so much better.
HOW TO MAKE THIS SMOOTHIE HEALTHIER:
This smoothie is so delicious, but is probably not the healthiest or most nutritious smoothie you can have. If you want to make this smoothie a little bit healthier:
Add in some greens. Spinach works really well with this combo of fruits. Add in a large handful to make this a green smoothie with some vitamins and minerals.
Reduce the amount of frozen fruit. Since you are adding in greens, you will need to decrease the amount of frozen fruit to get the fruit to liquid ratio correct. Plus, you will cut out some of the really sugary fruit.
Replace some of the juice with water. To decrease the calories and sugar even more, replace up to half of the juice with water. You will still taste the fruits, but it will be a bit healthier.
TIPS & TRICKS:
Use good quality nectar. The quality of the mango and pineapple juices matter a lot. To get the taste right, you need pure nectar. Artificially flavored juices may still taste good but they won’t be quite the same.
Use a high quality blender. A good quality blender makes a huge difference for smoothies.
This smoothie is meant to be thick. Once you blend this smoothie, you may think there is not enough liquid in it. Don’t add more liquid! It is meant to be a thick slushie mixture.
You can easily drink it with a straw. As you drink, it will melt slightly, but the extra thickness will mean it stays nice and frozen even on a hot summer day so you don’t have to rush to drink it all before it melts.
Add yogurt for a creamy smoothie. McDonald’s gives the option to add in yogurt for a creamy version. If you prefer this option, add a few scoops of plain yogurt and adjust to your liking.
If it doesn’t blend well, use the blender cups. There is a lot of frozen chunks in this smoothie and sometimes the large blender base doesn’t crush everything nicely.
If this happens, use the small smoothies blender base to blend all the frozen chunks. You may have to do it in two parts, but it’s worth it for the smooth slushie!
Don’t overblend the smoothie. Blend only until all the chunks are gone. If you blend the smoothie too much, it will start to liquify the smoothie, and it won’t be a slushie anymore.
