Want to learn how to make Strawberry Banana Smoothie Without yogurt? So you’ve decided to kick your yogurt addiction. Not sure what ingredients you can use in its place.
Today I’m going to show you how to make a strawberry banana smoothie without yogurt. It’s super easy, delicious and healthy. This recipe is for a smoothie but you can also use it as a milkshake by adding ice cream.
STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE WITHOUT YOGURT
If you want to make a strawberry banana smoothie without yogurt, you can easily make this delicious smoothie with 3 ingredients! It takes less than 5 minutes to make this recipe!

Today I share my strawberry banana smoothie that is perfect for breakfast or a snack. You can make this smoothie when you want to have a healthy treat during your sweet cravings as well.
It makes 1 large or 2 regular-size smoothies.

This recipe has health benefits. Bananas and strawberries are rich in potassium and vitamin C. Vitamin C is good for our immune and skin health whereas potassium regulates blood pressure.
You can read more about the benefits of strawberries and the benefits of bananas by clicking the links.
You can use your choice of milk. I am using whole milk which is rich in calcium, potassium and magnesium. These are good for bone and teeth health. You can read more about the benefits of milk by clicking the link.
Let’s see the ingredients in detail.
INGREDIENTS YOU’LL NEED
You can find the exact quantities at the bottom of my post, in the recipe card.

- Strawberries-I use strawberries straight from the fridge. They should be cold but not frozen. When I use two frozen fruits, it becomes more like an ice cream. As long as you don’t want an ice cream consistency, you should use one frozen fruit and one fresh fruit.
- Banana-I use frozen bananas that make this smoothie thick. You should use ripe bananas so you won’t need any sweetener.
- Milk-You can use your choice of milk. I use whole milk.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
I place the milk, frozen banana and strawberries into a blender and blend until all completely combined without any strawberry banana pieces.

The consistency should be thick and cold. You can taste it and if you want to make it thinner, you can add milk little by little. If you want to add some ice, you should blend until the cubes are crushed but with little ice pieces left.
I hope you enjoy this strawberry banana smoothie with milk as much as I do!

STRAWBERRY BANANA SMOOTHIE {VEGAN + GLUTEN FREE + PALEO}
This simple homemade strawberry banana smoothie is so creamy and made with just 3 ingredients! An easy plant based, real fruit smoothie made without yogurt and without dairy that’s perfect for the whole family! Vegan, gluten free, paleo, dairy free.

Hands up if you love making easy real fruit smoothies at home! 🙋🏼♀️
I am a firm believer that homemade smoothies > store bought smoothies.
I love that you can control the ingredients, how thick they are, what fruits you add, and what liquid you use to blend it all up! Often smoothie shops rely heavily on juice or milk as the base to make smoothies and I’d just rather not have that extra sugar and dairy.

Making smoothies from scratch is also SO easy! Once you get the hang of ratios and which ingredients work best you’ll be blending up delicious smoothies every single day.
And the options of what you can put in a smoothie are truly endless! Fruit, veggies, nuts, seeds, herbs, collagen, etc are all fair game.
But today we’re going back to the basics with a classic strawberry banana smoothie recipe.
It’s creamy, healthy, made with fresh ingredients, and it’s a favorite among kids and adults alike!
Why you’ll love this strawberry banana smoothie
This healthy smoothie is:
- Made with real fruit
- Creamy
- Dairy free / vegan / plant based
- Simple and easy to make
- Perfect for kids and toddlers (no added sugar!)
- Thick
- Refreshing
- SO yummy!

Strawberry banana smoothie ingredients
Okay so besides the fact that this smoothie is soooo delicious, it’s also pretty amazing because it’s made with just THREE ingredients! I don’t think it gets much easier than that.
And believe it or not these healthy smoothies are made without yogurt, without dairy, and without juice. WOO! 🥳
So what do you need to make a strawberry banana smoothie?
- A large banana – I typically use a fresh (not frozen) banana, but if you want an even thicker smoothie, or if it’s all you have on hand you can absolutely use a frozen banana. I like my strawberry banana smoothie to be a bit more strawberry forward in flavor so this recipe only calls for 1 banana to make 2 smoothies. If you want more banana flavor you can add a second banana!
- Frozen strawberries – Frozen strawberries are what make this smoothie THICK. If you don’t have any frozen strawberries you can substitute fresh in a pinch but you’ll want to add a handful of ice to your smoothie to cool it down and thicken it up.
- Non dairy milk of choice – Almond milk, oat milk, cashew milk, and hemp milk are all fantastic options. Remember – the creamier the plant based milk the creamier your smoothie will be!
And of course – a blender! My Vitamix is my best friend in the kitchen but any powerful blender will work.
Because this smoothie recipe is made with just 1 banana for two smoothies it’s not super duper sweet. If you prefer your smoothie sweeter you can either add a second banana or a bit of honey / maple syrup to sweeten it to taste!

How to make a perfect strawberry banana smoothie
Making a perfect smoothie is all about getting the right ratio. Not so thick that you can’t actually blend the smoothie, and not so thin that it drinks more like milk that tastes like fruit than a smoothie.
The ratio should be just right for this easy smoothie recipe, but the nice thing about it is that it’s easy to adjust if you’d like it a little thinner, or a little thicker.
To make it thicker you can do 2 things:
- Use a frozen banana instead of a fresh banana.
- Add more frozen strawberries or a bit of ice and blend again until you reach your desired consistency!
To make it thinner all you have to do is add a bit more liquid (either dairy free milk or even water) until it’s thin enough for the perfect sip.
But backing it up, let’s go over the step-by-step of how to make this smoothie:
- Starting with 1 ¼ cups dairy free milk, add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy. If the smoothie is too thick to blend freely use your blender’s tamper or add a little more milk at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- If you’d like your smoothie a little bit sweeter you can add a bit of honey or maple syrup to taste.
- Divide between two glasses and enjoy!

What makes this strawberry banana smoothie healthy
Healthy looks different for everyone, but this smoothie is relatively healthy compared to lots of other options out there!
First of all it’s dairy free (made without yogurt or cow’s milk), made with real fruit, and made with no artificial ANYTHING – gums, fillers, flavors, or sweeteners.
On top of that strawberries are rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants, fiber, and essential minerals. Bananas sometimes get a bad reputation but they actually contain many important nutrients! They are a good source of potassium, Vitamin C, antioxidants, and phytonutrients.
And both bananas and strawberries are prebiotic foods – which is a food that provides food for the good bacteria in your gut – or probiotics.
Additionally, because this smoothie is lower in sugar it’s perfect for kiddos and toddlers. And so creamy it honestly could pass as a strawberry milkshake for the little ones 😉

Well, you see.
When you eat regular comfort food, you eat yourself happy.French Tomato Coulis + How to can it×
Right?
With healthy and nutritious food the satisfaction works differently.
Healthy food and beverages, such as a fruity strawberry banana smoothie, homemade protein bars or the Bircher Müsli, give you a chance to make yourself feel good in the morning.
All this without much effort if done correctly!
It’s usually easier said than done because let’s face it, we love savory brunch crepes, sweet pancakes, and fluffy waffles.
Can you relate?
The only way to remedy this, to cheat your own laziness, is to take a step towards change.
With that, I mean to tackle your weakness for comfort breakfast food by giving you reasons to have a healthy balanced morning diet.
To achieve that I take a look at what my breakfast needs to be:
- My breakfast needs to be tasty and have flavor. No compromise here!
- My breakfast needs to be not only healthy but also nutritious. I want to feel full!
- My breakfast needs to come together quickly and without much hassle. Time and effort factor!
- My breakfast needs to be something that I can find easily at all times in my pantry or fridge. No space for ingredients that get spoiled fast and which are hard to get. Which brings me to the last point…
- My breakfast needs to be prepared with seasonal produce. Now this one depends heavily on my location in this world. For example, Strawberries might be in season right now in Goa but not somewhere in Europe.
Plus point, if it’s Vegan and raw as it gives me the feeling that I am taking in the most of plant-based nutrition possible.
This has a high psychological effect too which supports my mental well being!
To achieve all those breakfast checkpoints, I try to tweak recipes and prepare something like a fruit salad, müsli bowl, smoothie or similar.
One of my all-time favorite smoothies is the healthy Strawberry Smoothie Recipe without Yogurt.
Do you wonder how to make an easy strawberry smoothie?
I prepare it without yogurt and milk because I have a great substitute for milk and yogurt.
I use coconut or almond milk and that is just rocking it!
Besides that, the healthy Strawberry Banana Smoothie recipe includes locally grown bananas and strawberries from the market
I try to use as often as possible homemade DIY coconut milk for the extra flavor kick.
When I am in Europe I use the common fair trade versions of Chiquita bananas, which are of course not seasonal at all.
Let’s just face it, bananas are not a local ingredient in Europe.
Yet Strawberries can be found in different variations.
My favorite strawberries are the small forest strawberries, those are very intense and flavorful and quite popular amongst locals too in the Austrian Alps.
What do you like to add to your easy strawberry smoothie?

How to make Strawberry Banana Smoothie without Yogurt?
To prepare a fresh healthy Strawberry Smoothie Recipe without Yogurt you will only need a few ingredients, ice cubes, and a good blender.
I recommend getting a quality blender with a good engine such as the Ninja Blender.
I have tried making this simple strawberry smoothie with a cheap blender and it was always a huge disappointment (or a mess!).
Either the easy strawberry smoothie wasn’t smooth (beats the purpose!) or the engine would heat up and render the blender useless.
Banana is known as a feel-good ingredient. It’s a nutritious fruit, which signals your stomach that you are satisfied and in turn keeps you full longer.
In that sense, the banana makes sure that you don’t go overboard by eating food without nutritious values a short time later.
Banana also helps in thickening the easy strawberry smoothie!
Strawberries provide a good dose of balanced vitamins and minerals.
Plus point, they taste great too and turn the smoothie into a lovely pink color.
After all, we eat with our eyes too, don’t you think?
Coconut milk is very nutritious too and high in healthy fats which are needed to keep you longer full.
This is the same concept as the banana, to signal your brain that you don’t need to eat so soon again.
The healthy fats in coconut milk are essential for those who want to maintain a better muscle vs body fat ratio since healthy fats are needed to “feed” the formation of muscle cells
If you prefer a lighter vegan and raw milk, then try to use almond milk instead.
The ice cubes are essential for a thick and creamy strawberry banana smoothie without yogurt.
You just need to blend the ice cubes along with the strawberry banana and coconut milk, that’s it! No extra work involved.
