STRAWBERRY COLD FOAM AT STARBUCKS

Strawberry cold foam can be ordered at Starbucks as a topping for an iced drink even though it’s not on their standard menu.

Cold foam can be customized, like any drink item on the Starbucks menu. Any syrup can be added to vanilla sweet cream cold foam to flavor it.

Baristas aren’t trained on making secret menu items (customized official menu drinks and toppings) so you must be prepared to order it by knowing what goes in it.

Here’s how to order it: “Can I get vanilla sweet cream cold foam with 2 pumps of strawberry puree blended into the foam?”

Vanilla sweet cream cold foam is blended in a special blender that is only used to make cold foam.

Strawberry cold foam can only be ordered in person, not on the app.

INGREDIENT NOTES

  • Heavy cream
Cream is essential to making cold foam at home so you can’t replace it with any other ingredient. It’s not possible to make cold foam dairy-free.
  • 2% milk
Adding a little milk thins out the cream, making it pourable.
  • Strawberry syrup
Use store-bought or homemade strawberry syrup or puree.

EXPERT TIPS

  • Add strawberry cold foam on top of any iced drink to add a creamy, sweet fruity touch. It can be added to drinks in addition to or to replace milk or cream.
  • Try cold foam on top Strawberry Bubble Tea, iced teaIced Brown Sugar Tea Latte, or an Iced Matcha Latte.
  • Cold foam can also be made using an electric milk frother. A handheld milk frother works too, but a French press creates better cold foam with more uniform bubbles in the froth.
  • ⅓ cup of half & half can replace the heavy cream and milk in the recipe if you want a lighter version of the cold foam.
  • As you pump the plunger, cold foam will increase in volume so don’t overfill the French press.
  • Also, don’t underfill the French press because the plunger must touch the liquids before moving it up and down (or it won’t froth).
  • Cold foam can be stored in your refrigerator for up to 2 days.

QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE

Is cold foam the same thing as whipped cream?

They’re slightly different. Cold foam is milk or milk with cream frothed, so it’s pourable and light. Whipped cream is heavy cream that has been whisked or whipped until it can hold its shape. Whipped cream will stay on top of a drink until it’s mixed in but cold foam will sink into the drink after a little bit of time.

How is cold foam made at Dunkin’?

Dunkin’ uses Reddi-wip cold foam that comes in a can. It’s made with nonfat milk, sugar, and cream.

What is cold foam made of at Starbucks?

There are 2 different cold foams at Starbucks. There’s regular cold foam which is nonfat milk and vanilla syrup, blended in their special cold foam blender. There’s also vanilla sweet cream cold foam, which is made with heavy cream, 2% milk, and vanilla syrup.

Strawberry Cold Brew Recipe With Homemade Strawberry Sauce

Strawberry Cold Brew Recipe With Homemade Strawberry Sauce

We’re in the middle of summer, and it’s the perfect time for an iced coffee. There is nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than a cold brew made from scratch with no additives, preservatives, or syrups.

Recently, I’ve been experimenting with my own unique spin on cold brew coffee. That’s how this recipe for the strawberry cold brew was developed.

This strawberry cold brew recipe is fantastic and easy to make that you’ll be enjoying this for the days to come. Let’s get started!

What is a strawberry cold brew?

You might have guessed it already, but a strawberry cold brew is a delicious coffee drink that consists of cold brew and strawberries! You’ll also add a bit of cold foam for a unique touch.

Cold brew and strawberries are the perfect combination to keep you refreshed and energized on these warm days.

Strawberry cold brew.

Cold brew is stronger than regular iced coffee and more flavorful because it takes longer to extract all of the flavors from the coffee beans. (You can learn more about the difference here)

Today’s article is going to teach you how to make your own strawberry cold brew at home, so let’s dive right into it:

What ingredients are used in this cold brew?

I wanted this recipe to be easy to make, so it doesn’t require so many ingredients while still tasting amazing. You’ll need the following ingredients to get started:

  • Cold brew coffee
  • Strawberries for strawberry purée
  • 2% fat milk for cold foam
  • Ice cubes
All ingredients used to make a strawberry cold brew coffee at home.

The most important part of this recipe is the cold brew coffee. As it makes up for such a big part of this drink, you want this to be perfect. Read along to find out which cold brew I recommend using.

Then for the next amazing component of this cold brew drink is the strawberries. With the strawberries, you’ll make a strawberry purée that is perfect in sweetness.

For the strawberries, you can use fresh berries if you’re lucky enough to have access to them; otherwise, frozen will do just fine! The only difference is that you have to let the berries thaw before adding them in.

Down below, I’ve listed a recipe for homemade strawberry purée. If you prefer using store-bought strawberry purée instead, feel free to do so.

As for the 2% fat milk, you’ll make a lovely cold foam from it. The cold foam is the topping of this drink and will give your cold brew a delicious foamy texture.

I’ll discuss all these components below, so you’ll have all the information to make this recipe at home.

What cold brew coffee is best used?

The best cold brew coffee to use for this recipe is regular cold brew. You can make it using a cold brew maker or in your French press.

Regular cold brew coffee isn’t too strong in flavor like a cold brew concentrate is. But it cuts perfectly through the sweetness of the strawberry purée.

Because the strawberry purée and cold foam make up for half the drink, you want the cold brew coffee to be relatively strong.

Freshly made cold brew using a French press.

If you have a mellow cold brew coffee, you might find that this recipe turns out too sweet.

I’ve based the recipe around a regular sweetness. While testing, I found that two tablespoons of strawberry purée give this drink the perfect sweetness.

The amount of strawberry flavor that it gives you is phenomenal while not being too overpowering.

Tip: If you haven’t made cold brew coffee before, you can check out the recipe for it here.

What is cold foam, and why do I need it?

Cold foam is a textured foam made from low-fat milk. Low-fat milk makes for the best and most long-lasting cold foam.

You will use the cold foam to top this strawberry cold brew coffee. Because there’s already a bit of sweetness from the strawberries, the cold foam is there to add a bit of depth and texture.

Homemade cold foam.

Most cold foams last pretty long, depending on the milk you use. For this recipe, you can stir it through the coffee or leave it at the top for that amazing foam layer.

You can make cold foam using various techniques including, milk frother, blender, and many more. If you want more information on how to make it, you can check it out here.

Now, let me guide you through the recipe below. After that, I’ve listed an easy recipe for homemade strawberry purée.

This amazing strawberry cold brew is a refreshing drink you can enjoy while sitting out in the sun or as your daily morning coffee!

PREP TIME3 minutes

ADDITIONAL TIME2 minutes

TOTAL TIME5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (0.12 l) of cold brew coffee
  • 1/4 cup (0.06 l) of 2% fat milk
  • 2 tbsp (30 grams) of strawberry pureé
  • Ice cubes

Instructions

Now that you’ve prepared the homemade strawberry pureé and have a batch of cold brew coffee ready to go, it’s time to assemble this drink:

  1. Start by cold foaming the 2% fat milk. I used a milk frother for this. Have a look above for more ways to make cold foam.
  2. In a tall glass, add the strawberry pureé. If you want to add a sweetener to your coffee, you can add it now.
  3. Add a few ice cubes to the glass. I like to fill the glass to about halfway.
  4. Pour in the cold brew coffee. Optionally, you can give this a quick stir for optimal flavor distribution.
  5. Top this with the cold foam.
  6. You can now start enjoying your strawberry cold brew coffee!

Notes

You can switch out the 2% fat milk for nonfat milk or use a milk alternative that you like. It’s all up to you.

Cold Brew with Aggressive Strawberry Cold Foam Recipe

We made this powerful treat with some leftover ingredients.

The first step we took was to make the Aggressive Strawberry Cold Foam, which we deem “aggressive” because it also contains our cold brew coffee. Typically, cold foam doesn’t have any added caffeine power.

To make the Aggressive Strawberry Cold Foam:

Add all of these ingredients to your blender. . .

– 4 tablespoons of our cold brew coffee

– 4 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream

– 4 tablespoons of strawberry syrup. We used the private label version from our local Kroger grocery store.

– Blend it all together for, at least, 15 seconds. You want the blend to be creamy, & thick, but not so thick that it won’t easily pour out of the blender.

Ok, now you’ve made your cold foam. Well done. Let that cold foam sit in the blender for just a moment.

– Grab a glass, we used a 12oz glass, & put as much ice in the glass as your prefer.

– Fill your glass up halfway with our cold brew coffee

– Now grab your blender, & pour your Aggressive Strawberry Cold Foam over the cold brew, & ice.

You should see a clear separation in the glass, as the cold foam will sit on top of the cold brew.

Enjoy that view. It’s pretty fun, & pretty rad. Over time, the cold foam will start to mix down into your cold brew, & it’s totally ok if you want to speed up the process by stirring your drink.

Strawberry Cold Brew: Starbucks Secret Menu Drink at Home

A drink you may have seen around social media, the pink Strawberry Cold Brew is a ‘Secret Menu’ item you can try to get at Starbucks… or better yet, here’s how to make it at home!

Some links found in this post are affiliate links, meaning we may receive a commission if you decide to make a purchase, at no additional cost to you.

If you’ve seen your friends ordering pink Starbucks drinks on social media, here’s how you can make one of them at home. This is inspired by the Strawberry Cold Brew – a chocolate covered strawberry (or raspberry) flavored coffee.

It is cold brew coffee topped with a layer of pink cold foam and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings.

If your local Starbucks can make you a customized drink, you’ll need to ask for cold brew coffee with pumps of white chocolate and raspberry. Then get cold foam with strawberry puree. And top it with chocolate shavings.

This is what we’ll be doing here at home for our homemade Starbucks Secret Menu Strawberry Cold Brew. Here’s how.

Secret Menu Strawberry Cold Brew Ingredients

  • ½ cup cold brew coffee
  • 1 tbsp white chocolate sauce
  • 1 tsp raspberry syrup
  • ¼ cup oat milk
  • 1 drop of strawberry syrup
  • Chocolate curls, mini chocolate chips or chocolate shavings

Tips for Making Secret Menu Strawberry Cold Brew

Cold Brew Coffee

If you like cold brew coffee, it’s a good idea to keep a mason jar of it stored in the refrigerator so you can have it prepared ahead of time to make cold brew coffee recipes like this one.

Because cold brew coffee takes about 15 hours to make, I will frequently make a batch of cold brew coffee concentrate at the beginning of the week and store it in a mason jar for the week.

Check out our guide to making cold brew coffee (with 3 easy methods!)

I used my French press, which I find very convenient. This is what I do:

  • Grind coffee beans coarsely. I buy whole bean coffee and grind it myself using a Capresso Burr Grinder. (Note you don’t have to buy coffee beans that are labeled as cold brew coffee beans. You can use any of your favorite coffee beans. For this recipe, you can use a Starbucks one like the Starbucks House Blend.)
  • Place ground coffee in the French press. I use a 1 cup of ground coffee to 3 parts water ratio.
  • Cover the French press with the plunger but do not push the plunger down just yet. Set aside for 12-15 hours.
  • When the time has passed, press the plunger down to strain the cold brew coffee. Pour this into a mason jar to store in the refrigerator.

White Chocolate Sauce

I used Torani White Chocolate Sauce.

I use Torani sauces for most of my coffee recipes as they are great for mixing in both hot or cold coffee and also are versatile and work for topping desserts like ice cream. I even used in my caramel coffee pancakes too.

Raspberry and Strawberry Syrup

I used Torani Raspberry Syrup.

This will be mixed in the cold brew coffee. While Starbucks offers a strawberry puree, which is used in the cold foam, you can replicate this by using Strawberry Syrup.

And if you don’t want to have to purchase two different syrups, you can just choose one and use it for both the cold brew coffee and cold foam. I actually just used raspberry syrup because I prefer the raspberry and white chocolate mix.

Milk

I made my Strawberry Cold Brew dairy free by using oat milk and frothing it in a Miroco Milk Frother.

Some dairy free milk alternatives don’t froth as well as regular milk, so you may want to try a barista blend milk, like Califia Farms Barista Blend Oat Milk.

And if you want your cold foam to hold together and stay on top of your cold brew coffee for as long as possible, my preferred combination (a dairy version) is 3 tbsp skim milk plus 1 tbsp heavy whipping cream.

Toppings

Top your Strawberry Cold Brew with chocolate. I used a Hershey’s Special Dark chocolate bar and shaved it using a lemon zester.

How to Make Secret Menu Strawberry Cold Brew

  1. Make cold brew coffee.
  2. Pour cold brew coffee, white chocolate sauce and raspberry syrup in a glass. Mix and add ice.
  3. Froth milk in a milk frother. While frothing, add in a drop or two of strawberry syrup.
  4. Pour pink cold foam on top of cold brew coffee.
  5. Top with chocolate curls or mini chocolate chips.

Step 1

Make cold brew coffee. You’ll need to do this in advance as making cold brew coffee takes around 15 hours as the coarsely ground coffee needs this amount of time to steep in water.

I make it in advance and store it in the refrigerator to use throughout the week.

Step 2

Mix cold brew coffee, white chocolate sauce and raspberry syrup in a glass. Stir to mix and add ice.

Step 3

Froth milk in a milk frother. While the milk is frothing, add a drop or two of strawberry syrup.

Step 4

Top with chocolate curls, mini chocolate chips or chocolate shavings.
