Why This Recipe Works

  • This strawberry daiquiri recipe is virgin, which means that it’s non-alcoholic. So pregnant women, kids, and those that simply want to avoid alcohol can all partake in a tasty drink without feeling left out.
  • It’s made with fresh and frozen strawberries so the sweet fruity taste is abundant and the drink won’t become watered down like it would if you had used ice.
  • Because we use frozen strawberries the drink is wonderfully thick and cold. The consistency is perfect and exactly like that of a daiquiri drink.

Ingredients

  • Simple syrup: This is a mixture of water and sugar needed to help sweeten the drink. The sugar is dissolved into the water so that the sugar is well incorporated into the drink without changing the texture.
  • Lime juice: Adding freshly squeezed lime juice will help to make our drink taste much fresher as well as help to keep the strawberry color nice and vibrant.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup: In a small saucepan, combine the ⅓ cup of granulated sugar with the ⅓ cup of water and stir together over medium-high heat until the sugar dissolves. This should take about 3-4 minutes. Remove the pot from the heat and transfer to the fridge to chill until cold.
  2. Measure out ⅓ cup of the simple syrup and add it to your high-powered blender. I use my Vitamix Blender.
  3. Add in the fresh strawberries, frozen strawberries, and lime juice.

Expert Tips

I’ve ordered several virgin strawberry daiquiris over the years and there are some creative toppings you can add to make your drink more fun. For example, adding whipped cream over the top is a delicious way to enjoy your frozen drink. You can also add a fresh lime slice or strawberry to the rim of your glass for garnish.

Using different flavored frozen berries would give you a change of flavor combinations. So feel free to try mixing it up with frozen mango, pineapple, or even blueberries.

Fruit Daiquiri drinks usually contain rum. Since we are making this a virgin strawberry daiquiri we didn’t add any alcohol. If you want some rum flavor you can add a splash of rum extract to the drink.

FAQ’s

Are strawberry daiquiri gluten free?

Alcoholic and Virgin versions of strawberry daiquiris are gluten free. Made with sugar, water, fruit and fruit juice this non-alcoholic version is totally gluten free.

Can I make strawberry daiquiri without blender?

If you find yourself without a blender you can also try to make this drink using a food processor. Another idea is to use a drink shaker to mix up all of the ingredients (excluding frozen strawberries) and then pour and serve over ice in a chilled glass. prep time: 10 MINS

cook time: 0 MINS

blend time: 1 MIN

total time: 11 MINS

Servings: 1 serving

INGREDIENTS 1x2x3x

Simple Syrup

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water

Strawberry Daiquiri

  • 2 cups frozen strawberries – around 290 grams
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries – hulled and sliced, but measured AFTER the strawberries have been sliced, mine was around 135 grams
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice – from 2-3 limes, depending on the size and juiciness

EQUIPMENT

  • Vitamix/blender

INSTRUCTIONS

Make Simple Syrup

  • Make simple syrup by adding 1/3 cup granulated sugar to 1/3 cup water in a small saucepan. Stir over medium high heat until sugar dissolves, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and transfer to the fridge to chill until cold. (This will make just shy of 1/2 cup of simple syrup).

Make the Drink

  • Measure out 1/3 cup of the simple syrup and add it to a high-powered blender. Add the fresh strawberries, frozen berries, and lime juice and blend until smooth.
  • Pour in a glass and enjoy!

NOTES

Simple Syrup: If you’re using strawberries that aren’t as ripe you might want to add more than 1/3 cup of simple syrup. Taste and add as you go.

Lime Juice: use fresh lime juice for optimum flavor.

You shouldn’t need to add crushed ice (that will just dilute the flavor) because we use frozen strawberries to get the thick, cold signature texture and consistency of a daiquiri drink.

Topping idea: I’ve had several virgin strawberry daiquiri’s that have been topped with freshly whipped cream, you’re more than welcome to add some to the top for extra flair and flavor!

This makes enough for 1 large serving (around 16 oz), or 2 small servings.

My first high school job was as a server at a Mexican restaurant and cantina. On my breaks, the bartender would whip up a virgin strawberry daiquiri for me almost every shift to enjoy in the back with all the chips and salsa I wanted. It was the best job and I loved it!

A classic strawberry daiquiri is made with rum, but it’s super easy to make a non-alcoholic version. It’s very fruit forward with a touch of citrus from the fresh squeezed lime juice.

You can easily customize your daiquiri to make it just how you like it by adding more simple syrup if you prefer it sweeter. I like to make ours fairly thick and slushy so they don’t melt too fast. The secret it to use a mix of both fresh and frozen strawberries for the best flavor and texture, rather than watering it down with too much ice.

Keep in mind that the longer you blend the strawberries, the runnier the drink will be. Daiquiris are intended to be fairly thick, almost but not quite as thick as a smoothie.

What You’ll Need

  • Strawberries: Using frozen strawberries lets you thicken this frozen drink without ice, for the most potent strawberry flavor. But fresh strawberries give extra juiciness and flavor, so a mix of the two is best.
  • Limes: Use juicy limes and try rolling them on the counter for a second before slicing in half and juicing them. Fresh lime juice will give much better flavor than the bottled kind.
  • Simple syrup: This is so easy to make with just sugar and water and perfect for sweetening your daiquiris without the grittiness that you get from just adding sugar.
  • Lemon lime soda: 7up or Sprite provides a nice backdrop and is great for thinning out your daiquiri as needed without altering the strawberry flavor.

How to Make Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri

  1. Make the simple syrup: Start by combining sugar and water in a small saucepan and heat over medium to medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, just until the sugar has dissolved. Remove from the heat and cool completely. This can be done well in advance and stored in the fridge for at least a few weeks, so it’s a great idea to double or triple the batch so you have some on hand for whenever you need it.
  2. Blend: Combine strawberries, simple syrup, lime juice, and soda in a high-speed blender. Blend until smooth. You will need to stop and scrape down sides or tamp the frozen strawberries down into the blender blades at the bottom a couple of times to make sure everything gets blended all the way. Taste and adjust by adding more simple syrup (if you want it sweeter) or more lime juice (if you want it more tart). Pour into glasses and garnish with a slice of lime and a strawberry to serve.

Can I use other fruit?

If you want a different flavor daiquiri than strawberry, just swap out the strawberries for a different fruit. Peaches, blueberries, or mangos would be delicious. So would raspberries or blackberries, although you will want to puree and strain out the seeds first.

Can these be made ahead?

If you are having a party and want to serve these virgin strawberry daiquiris, you can make multiple batches ahead of time and store them in a freezer-safe container in the freezer for an hour or so. Let them sit out for a bit to soften up, about 30 minutes or so, and stir until slushy and pourable.

You can even keep the blended strawberry daiquiris in the fridge for about an hour and they will stay pretty slushy, although they will melt faster once you take them out to serve.

Can I use this to make a Miami Vice?

You sure can! This virgin strawberry daiquiri is ½ of a Miami Vice, which is a combination of strawberry daiquiri and pina colada. Just whip up a batch of our virgin pina coladas and pour both the daiquiri and pina colada into the same cup at the same time for a beautifully swirled effect!

INGREDIENTS FOR A VIRGIN STRAWBERRY DAIQUIRI

Are you wondering what goes into a virgin strawberry daiquiri? Our recipe has just a few, tasty ingredients blended together to make a perfect non alcoholic frozen drink. Here is what we use:

Frozen Strawberries- A delicious strawberry daiquiri mocktail starts with real, frozen strawberries. Look for frozen strawberries that are pre sliced as they will blend easier.

You can also slice and freeze your own berries. Using frozen berries is key to ensure that the daiquiri has a nice slushy consistency.

Simple syrup- Simple syrup gives the daiquiri a sweet taste and it enhances the flavor of the berries. Simple syrup is just a mix of equal parts sugar and water.

Boil the two ingredient together until the sugar dissolves. Be sure to cool the syrup before using it for your daiquiri.

Lemon and Lime Juice- Next comes the lemon and lime juice which are the two flavors that make a daiquiri unique. Use fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice if possible to really make the daiquiri drool-worthy.

Sprite– Sprite adds to the lemon lime flavor and gives the mocktail a nice bubbly texture.  It’s one thing that makes this a daiquiri and not just a smoothie!

Any kind of lemon lime soda will work. You can also use lemon lime seltzer if you would like to have a mocktail with a little less sugar.

Water and Ice- Water helps the daiquiri blend easier. Adding a little more liquid to the blender will give you nice, smooth results.

Ice makes the daiquiri thick and is 100% necessary in a frozen drink. You may be able to skip the water in the recipe if using a super powerful blender.
