These Instant Pot Duo Crisp Apple Chips are , tart and sweet. You won’t believe how easy it is to make them at home! I’ve been getting quite a few requests for more Instant Pot recipes recently. The feedback is overwhelmingly positive about my cinnamon rolls in the Instant Pot, so I thought I’d consider just what else we can make in the Instant Pot.

What are Instant Pot Apple Chips?

Instant Pot Apple Chips are a healthy, homemade snack.

You use your air fryer to make crispy chips using fresh apples that you get either at your local orchid, farm stand, or store.

Apple chips are a popular alternative to potato chips or other high-calorie, low nutrient snacks.

What do I need to make my Apple Chips?

Well, the most amazing thing about this Instant Pot apple chips is that you need only 3 simple ingredients and you have a delicious snack:

1. Apples

2. Cinnamon

3. Salt


Can I store my leftovers?

This recipe is best enjoyed warm and fresh, but leftovers can be stored in the fridge for 4-5 days.

I have not tested freezing it, but I’m sure it would work.

How to reheat my leftovers?

Leftovers are delicious.

Warm in the microwave for one minute and enjoy!

Whattype of apples are best for Apple Chips?

Choose one with flavors you like.

A combination of granny smith and gala apples is my favorite.

Instant Pot Apple Chips

Can I make theapple chips in the oven?

Absolutely, assemble apple chips the same way as the Instant Pot.

Prepare in a 9-inch square baking dish and bake in a 375F° for 30-35 minutes (uncovered).

Can I make it with pears?

Sure! Feel free to make Instant Pot pear chips 🙂

They are great fruits to use in a crisp or crumble. Peel and chop the same way and follow the same instructions.

Prep Time:5 – 10 mins
Cook Time:3.5 hours


4 apples of your choice

1 tbsp lemon juice

You can peel the apples or leave them with the skin on.

Then slice the apples into rings, very thin (1/4cm) for crispy apple pieces or a bit thicker (1/2cm) for more chewy apple pieces.

Brush/spray lemon juice onto the apple rings to help keep their colour.

Lay the apple slices in your Duo Crisp Air Fryer basket or on your dehydrating racks (they can overlap a bit as they shrink, you can rearrange them during the cooking process).

Set your Instant Pot to Dehydrate at 60C for 3.5 hours. Check apple rings half way through to rearrange.

Once finished, you can use for school lunches or as a healthy snack!

To make Healthy Air fryer Cinnamon Apple Chips, you will need only 2 ingredients -Apples and Cinnamon and 3 easy steps!

Step 1 – Wash the apples, dry to touch and slice them thin to 1/8th Inch using a mandolin slicer or knife. Getting them uniformly cut is important.

Its perfectly fine, if the slices are not uniform – But bear in mind, they may cook differently to the ones cut even. Some may be crisp, some may not! They will still be delicious. Its a misconception – Thinner the chips, crispier it is!

If you like Paper thin Apple Chips – slice the Apples to 1/16th Inch. Detailed instructions and cooking time is included in the recipe card.

Step 2 – Toss the sliced apples with cinnamon and arrange them in air fryer basket. The apple slices will be overlapping each other.

Step 3 – Air fry the chips at 150 C for about 22 minutes, flipping every 5 minutes until the apple slices are free of moisture and there are no shiny spots.

Once all the apple slices dry out well, increase the temperature to 160 C and set the time to 7 minutes. Flip and turn the apple slices every 2 minutes. Apple slices with curl in the edges and will gain colour quickly. Remove any chips that are brown quicker than the rest.

Wash the Apple really well, to ensure the apples are clear of the wax.

Do not slice Apples with more than 1/8th inch thick. Thin slices of Apples will yield crispy chips.  Thicker slices will not be crispy but they will still be delicious.

Coring the Apples is to a personal liking. I prefer to core the apples sometimes, when my daughter was too little! There is no worry about the kids choking with the seeds.

Color of the Apple Chip -will depend on the type of apple. After numerous experiments, we found Crispy variety of apples like granny smith turn lighter whereas Soft sweet variety of apples like royal gala yield darker chips.

Store these air fryer apple chips in air tight jars for up to a week.

Cooking Time will vary depending on the variety of apples use and how much moisture remains in the apples. So adjust accordingly.

Apple chips are thinly sliced apples that are lightly sprinkled with cinnamon, then baked until pleasantly crisp. Healthy homemade apple chips are a remarkably addictive snack. Unlike their store-bought counterparts, however, this apple chips recipe uses no sugar and the chips are baked, not fried.


Enjoy these chips as a stand alone snack ( as it is ) – This is my favourite way!

You can also add them to your morning breakfast porridge, yogurt cups, parfait, salads or even trail mix.  These are so delicious, that you will love them in every possible way
