BEST SNICKERDOODLE APPLE COBBLER
A delightful variation on apple cobbler is snickerdoodle apple cobbler. Between layers of Snickerdoodle cookie dough is baked a sweet apple pie filling that is then drizzled with caramel and topped with vanilla ice cream.
Pie filling may be used to make apple cobbler, which is a fun method to speed up cooking while maintaining flavorful results. When using pie filling to make a simple cobbler, minimal preparation and cooking time are required!
This snickerdoodle apple cobbler tastes like fall because of the caramel sauce and cinnamon sugar snickerdoodle cookie dough. It is the ideal dessert for fall and is served best with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
MAKING THIS SNICKERDOODLE APPLE COBBLER
Our preferred Snickerdoodle recipe is combined with canned apple pie filling in this simple snickerdoodle apple cobbler. The dessert is easy to make and comes together quickly. In a 9×13 pan, half the cookie batter is spread on the bottom. The remaining Snickerdoodle dough and apple pie filling are then placed on top. After a quick sprinkle of cinnamon sugar, it is baked. I sprinkle some caramel over mine and then top it with vanilla ice cream.
SNICKERDOODLE APPLE COBBLER INGREDIENTS
Salted butter: I like using genuine salted butter. You’ll require 1 stick, or 1/2 cup.
You’ll also need 1/2 cup of butter-flavored shortening because it gives cookie dough a better texture.
— granulated sugar: The Snickerdoodle cookie dough calls for 1 1/2 cups of sugar.
–2 eggs
–1 TBSP vanilla
–2 3/4 cups flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar: This ingredient gives Snickerdoodles their distinctive texture.
1 teaspoon baking soda: used to leaven or puff up the cookie dough.
1/2 teaspoon salt
-a combination of cinnamon and sugar (1/2 cup sugar and 2 TBSP cinnamon).
-Apple pie filling: Two 20-oz cans of apple pie filling are required. You need roughly 4.5 cups of apple pie filling if you’re using homemade.
HOW TO MAKE SNICKERDOODLE APPLE COBBLER
Spray non-stick cooking spray on a 9×13 glass pan and preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. (Use a lighter pan and lower the temperature to 350°F.)
Cream the butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, eggs, and vanilla with a hand mixer. Salt, baking soda, cream of tartar, and flour should all be combined.
Press about 2/3 of the snickerdoodle dough into the bottom of the 9-by-13-inch pan, pressing against the edges to make them slightly rise up the pan’s sides. On top of the dough, sprinkling half of the cinnamon sugar mixture.
Spread the apple pie filling from both cans over the dough, making sure to cover the edges as well. With your fingers, break up the remaining cookie dough into little pieces and sprinkle it over the apple pie filling. Even if it won’t entirely enclose it, it will come close. The top will be covered with the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Put foil over the cobbler. (I used non-stick spray on the side that would come in contact with the cobbler.) On the center oven rack, bake for 40 minutes at 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake for an additional ten minutes after removing the foil.
After cooling for ten minutes, serve it with caramel sauce on top, if like. Or a spoonful of caramel sauce followed by a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Mmmmm!
