What ingredients do I need?
You’ll need all the ingredients in the photograph below.

You’d never know that this apple crumble was vegan. Perfect apples with a divine crumble topping make it so popular!
What are the best apples to make apple crumble with?
For all our versions of apple crumble prefer to use Braeburn or Granny smith apples.
But you can use what you prefer.
Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or red apples would also be great.
If you’ve got an apple tree in your garden, then freshly picked apples would be amazing!
Do I need to peel the apples?
You don’t ‘have’ to.
But honestly?
It’s much better if you peel them.
Peeled apples are soft and delicious.
If you leave the skins on, you get tough pieces in the crumble, and while there’s nothing wrong with that, we don’t think it tastes so great.

Is this recipe gluten free?
It’s not gluten free but it’s easy to adapt it.
Simply use gluten free flour.
What do I serve with apple crumble?
Usually, apple crumble is served with vanilla ice cream or custard.
You’ll need to ensure you have vegan ice cream and vegan custard.
Is vegan apple crumble the same as vegan apple crisp?
No, they are different.
The real difference is that crumble doesn’t contain oats, whereas apple crisp does.
Play with the flavors
To vary our vegan apple crumble recipe, we sometimes play with the flavors.
Try adding a little lemon juice, ginger, and crushed pecan nuts to your apples.
Or how about a little ground cinnamon to your crumble mixture.
Give a lovely coconut taste by using coconut sugar instead of brown sugar.
How do I store it?
You can store our vegan apple crumble in the fridge for up to 3 days.
It does freeze well for up to 3 months, but we recommend freezing the crumble topping and the apple mixture separately if possible.
